Abstract:The purpose of this research is to investigate the cognition and demand for mental health of inhabited community groups of Yi and Han. Methods: adopting questionnaire of cognition of and demand for mental health, which investigates 1,200 people in 10 communities in Liangshan Xichang. Results demonstrated:(1)On the perspective of the knowledge to mental healthy, 93% of the overall sample in Yi and Han inhabited communities considered physical healthy as important as psychological one, 67% people preferred the adoption of environment, 53% people valued the moral state as positive.(2)On the perspective of the demands of mental healthy, 20% samples valued indifferent as well as 20% valued extremely necessary, and 47% regards it as very necessary, furthermore 13% considered it as occasionally necessary.(3)On the perspective of willing to seeking help, 13.8% samples were willing to consult a psychological consultant. Conclusion:(1)people in community lacked proper knowledge of mental health and its characters.(2)people in community demonstrated a very demands to mental health services, as well as the awareness to seek help, however they still showed a conservative attitude towards mental healthy services.
