Introduction to modern biotechnology is a core course for majors in life sciences. This course aims to help students understand and master the principles and applications of modern biotechnology, as well as its impacts on economic and social development, so as to adapt to the rapid progress of modern life science and technology. Due to its abstract concepts and rapidly evolving theories and technologies, it is challenging to achieve satisfactory teaching outcomes. This study adopts a teaching mode combining rain classroom with the BOPPPS model to carry out teaching reform for this course. After the course ended, a questionnaire survey was conducted on students'' teaching evaluation of this teaching mode, and the final grades of the students were statistically analyzed to evaluate the effect of this teaching mode in the teaching reform of the course of introduction to modern biotechnology. The results show that the final grades of students under the teaching mode combining rain classroom and the BOPPPS model are significantly better than those under the traditional teaching mode. Students'' satisfaction with this teaching mode is very high, with an approval rate of 96.97%. The results reveal that this teaching mode can effectively improve students'' mastery of course knowledge and academic performance.
