Thin Layer Chromatography method (TLC) has been used to identify rhubarb components in compound catechu myogenic oil. The experimental results show that in the preparation for the test sample solutions， the way of using 5% sodium hydroxide solution to extract samples of rhubarb is superior to separation of methanol， and the reproducibility is better, which can be used as agents of the development of quality standards for the identification method.
