[Objective] To study the bibliometric index of Journal of Xichang University (Natural Science Edition) and provide guidelines for its sustainable development. [Method] Journal of Xichang University (Natural Science Edition) was used as the research object, and the papers published in the journal from 2014 to 2018 were analyzed through literature review and bibliometrics. [Result] In the past five years, 766 papers, 3.81 pages per paper and 64.23% of funded papers were published in the journal; the average page number increased year by year, reaching 4.23 pages in 2018; the number of funded papers increased year by year, reaching more than 80% of the total in 2017 and 2018; the authors were mostly master degree holders, lecturers, 30-40 years old, and from universities; the co-authorship rate was higher than 48% and is increasing year by year; and the influencing factors decrease first and then increase. [Conclusion] The academic title, degree, and age level of the authors of published papers in this journal tended to be stable in the past five years, and the published papers' quality and influence have been increasing steadily.
