Abstract:[Purpose] Based on dynamic analysis of Xichang University sport majors taking exams for graduate programs from 2015 to 2019, constructive solutions are proposed for university sports majors in ethnic minority regions. [Method] Literature, questionnaire, interview and mathematical statistics are adopted to investigate the situation of sports major undergraduates taking graduate entrance examinations in Xichang University in recent five years. [Result] In the past five years, Xichang University sports majors' motives to take graduate entrance examinations has been promoted constantly, and the number of students taking the exams and getting enrolled has been rising steadily; the enrolling universities are also diversifying, and the quantity and quality of enrolling colleges outside Sichuan province have improved, whereas enrolling colleges in Sichuan province remain monotonous; the number and proportion of minority students enrolled are increasing but still low; poor professional theoretical knowledge and English level are major hindrance to sports majors' efforts to get enrolled for graduate studies. [Conclusion] Progress has been made for Xichang University sports majors taking exams for graduate programs, and a good atmosphere for learning and instruction has been created; professional studies and English education should be highlighted in the whole process of education, and instructions for minority students taking exams for graduate programs should be improved aiming at targeted poverty alleviation to stop poverty from passing on to the next generation; students' mental state should be cared about seriously, and humanistic care and psychological counseling for them should be improved.
