Based on comparing and analyzing the statistics in documentation and videos, this paper studies the USA Men＇s National Basketball Team and its opponents in the London 2012 Olympic Games. Through comparison and analysis of the data of dunks made by American team and its rival teams, the paper aims to explore the role of dunking in basketball games, and makes suggestions about some training approaches of how to improve the ability of dunking thus provides the theoretical foundation for applying dunking to basketball training and games.
