The torch festival is Yi nationality's grand traditional holiday.Apartfrom religious ceremonies,some traditional sports are to be held during the torch festival season.This paper analyzes the activities and functions of those traditional sports,and then draws the conclusion that the pysical exercises of the torch festival is an important form of preserving and passing down our traditional Yi peoples sports.The festival has a far-reaching influence on the development of the Yi people's traditional sports.
