This article analyses the characteristics of urban design in waterfront areas.Putting forword some principles of urban design in waterfront areas by case studies,it suggests to stress the role of waterfront in urban public system,to create more attractive water spaces and to provide the convenient access to waterfront and integration of waterfront environment.
