Lines are the major expressive language of chinese painting, the main expressive technique of china's ancient traditional painting, and the foundation of chinese figure painting. Through the analysis of line drawings and excellent paintings with line drawing in the traditional ink and brush style, this article aims to let us understand the development process of figure painting and master the characteristics of line drawings of each historical periods, then offers a beneficial reference to us for studying ancient figure paintings with line drawing in the traditional ink and brush style.
