Abstract:Knowledge economy is an economy of global integration, and its essence is creation. Instruction, involving teaching and studying, is a process in whieh human mental energy is conversed from one body to another and re-created. However, in China's higher education the traditional instruction is oriented towards examination, which has seriously hindered the young generation from developing its own concepts of creation and creativity. Challenged by knowledge economy, can higher education fulfill the great strategy for cultivating talents with creativity? It depends on whether new teaching methods can challenge old ones and implement a thorough transformation. The authors, according to the creative levels of instructions, puts forward a new classification of instructions:test-oriented, capability-oriented, creativity-oriented and undertaking-oriented.
